The Premier’s Sustainability Awards recognise and celebrate Victorians who are leading the way to a sustainable future.

The award categories have been revamped this year to reflect the current focus of sustainability activity in Victoria and align with global best practice.

The 6 categories represent exceptional sustainability outcomes that can be delivered by projects and initiatives, and link to the globally-accepted United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Entries for the 2022 Premier's Sustainability Awards close at 5pm on Sunday 1 May 2022.

Awards categories

This year’s awards categories include:

  • Circular economy innovation – Accelerating Victoria’s transition to a more circular economy.
  • Future energy – Transitioning Victoria to net zero emissions and providing clean, affordable, and secure energy.
  • Healthy and fair society – Promoting increased awareness and support for physical/mental health, equity, and wellbeing of all Victorians to create a resilient, healthy, and happy community.
  • Sustainable places and destinations – Creating sustainable and resilient communities, environments, and economies.
  • Thriving environment – Protecting, restoring and enhancing Victorian habitat, flora and/or fauna to ensure ecosystems are secured and flourish for future generations.
  • Waste and litter reduction – Enabling responsible production and consumption of resources, minimising what goes into landfills and reducing litter.

Award types

The business categories for this year’s awards are:

Stream 1 - Industry Leader

This stream is for initiatives delivered by an individual or an organisation with more than:

  • $250,000 turnover
  • 10 employees
  • 100 volunteers
  • 10,000 community members affected by the project
  • $50,000/year in donations, grants, etc to run the project (including government funding).

Stream 2 - Community Champion

This stream is for initiatives delivered by an individual or an organisation with less than:

  • $250,000 turnover
  • 10 employees
  • 100 volunteers
  • 10,000 community members affected by the project
  • $50,000/year in donations, grants, etc (including government funding).
