What is the Regional Tourism Support Package?

The Regional Tourism Support Package is a $32.2 investment that supports Victoria’s critical tourism sector in three ways:

  • $16 million to fund 80,000 travel vouchers valued at $200, building on the success of the Regional Travel Voucher Scheme and encouraging Victorians to support regional tourism operators.
  • $11.8 million for a Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two Tourism Supplement to provide eligible tourism businesses – accommodation, attractions, and tourism operators – up to $4500 in additional support.
  • $4.4 million for an Alpine Support Program providing businesses in the alpine resorts and Dinner Plain with up to $15,000 grants. Off-mountain alpine related businesses such as equipment hire, transport companies and tour providers may be eligible for $5000 grants.

How much is the Tourism Supplement as part of the second round of the Business Costs Assistance Program?

Eligible tourism businesses – accommodation, attractions, and tourism operators - will receive up to an additional $4500 so that all tourism businesses receive a total grant of $7000 as part of the Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two.

Tourism businesses eligible for a $2500 grant will receive a $4500 top-up. Tourism businesses eligible for a $5000 grant will receive a $2000 top-up.

The maximum total payment to eligible tourism businesses through the Circuit Breaker Business Support Package and the Regional Tourism Support Package is $7000.

Who is eligible for the Tourism Supplement as part of the second round of the Business Costs Assistance Program?

The Tourism Supplement will be provided accommodation, attractions and tour operators and attractions that are eligible for the Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two.

Will eligible tourism businesses need to apply for the Tourism Supplement?

Eligible businesses for the Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two Tourism Supplement will not need to apply again if they have already submitted a claim for the Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two.

It will instead be made as a subsequent payment under the program, bringing total direct support to a maximum of $7000.

When will the Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two Tourism Supplement be paid?

Initial payments under the Circuit Breaker Business Support Package will be paid first.

A subsequent payment of $2000 or $4500 will be made to eligible businesses for the Business Costs Assistance Program Tourism Supplement.

What if I have applied for support via the Licensed Venue Hospitality Fund 2021?

If you have been invited to apply for the Licensed Venue Hospitality Fund 2021, you may also be eligible for the Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two Tourism Supplement.

Businesses eligible for the Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two, the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund 2021 and the Tourism Supplement will be paid a maximum $7000 under all programs.

The Tourism Supplement will be made after initial payments under the Circuit Breaker Business Support Package.

Why are payments being made after initial Circuit Breaker Business Support Package payments?

It is critical that payments are made to as many impacted businesses as possible in a timely manner.

Businesses will be paid their Tourism Supplement in a subsequent payment once we have confirmed they meet the requirements.

Why are hospitality businesses, including restaurants and cafes, excluded?

Restaurants, cafes, and pubs are eligible for the Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two and many are also eligible for the Licensed Venue Hospitality Fund 2021, which provides up to $7000 in support.

What is the Alpine Support Program?

The $4.4 million Alpine Support Program will support businesses at Victoria’s alpine resorts and Dinner Plain, and key businesses in the surrounding towns, to manage the impacts of restrictions on their operations and to offer a COVIDSafe visitor experience as skiers and snowboarders return.

How much are eligible businesses able to apply for under the Alpine Support Program?

This package will provide businesses in the alpine resorts and Dinner Plain with up to $15000 grants. Off-mountain alpine related businesses such as equipment hire, transport companies and tour providers may be eligible for $5000 grants.

Have new regional travel vouchers been announced?

The Victorian Government has announced it will hold another round of the Regional Travel Voucher Scheme comprising 80,000 vouchers, building on the success of earlier rounds.

These vouchers will provide $200 to Victorians who spend at least $400 over two nights holidaying anywhere in regional Victoria.

Vouchers will be offered to Victorian residents to contribute to the costs of accommodation, tourism attractions or tours undertaken in regional Victoria, including the Yarra Valley,  Dandenong Ranges, Mornington Peninsula, and the Victorian Alpine ski resorts.

How can I apply for a travel voucher?

When applications open, Victorians will be able to apply for a regional travel voucher via the vic.gov.au website.

Who is eligible for the Regional Travel Voucher Scheme?

Victorian residents over the age of 18 are eligible to apply. If you have previously claimed for a voucher under the Melbourne or Regional Travel Voucher Schemes you will not be eligible for a second voucher in this latest round.

What does the travel voucher entitle a successful applicant to?

Each voucher gives the recipient the right to claim a reimbursement of $200 if they have spent at least $400 on accommodation, experiences, tours, or attractions for a minimum two nights in paid accommodation in Victoria.

How many vouchers have been available under the Melbourne and Regional Travel Voucher Schemes?

Victorians have had access to 200,000 vouchers under the Melbourne and Regional Travel Voucher Schemes.

Round 1, Regional Travel Voucher Scheme — 70,000 vouchers

Round 2, Regional Travel Voucher Scheme — 40,000 vouchers

Round 3, Regional Travel Voucher Scheme — 50,000 vouchers

Melbourne Travel Voucher Scheme — 40,000 vouchers

Will the travel and claim period for Round 3 of the Regional Travel Voucher Scheme be extended given Victoria’s restrictions?

Yes.

The eligible travel period for Round 3 of the Regional Travel Voucher Scheme will be extended by three weeks for all voucher recipients following the lifting of travel restrictions for all Victorians.

Regional Victorians who can travel from 4 June 2021 are eligible to continue to use their vouchers as soon as travel is permitted.
