People First Healthcare

Dr. Alebrahimi was honoured with the Business & Employment Award at the 2024 Multicultural Awards for Excellence (MAE) .

His work in culturally appropriate aged care services in Victoria has improved healthcare access for elderly migrants, created job training programs for migrants and refugees, and fostered stronger community connections.

A personal journey to inclusive healthcare

Dr. Mohammed Alebrahimi’s business journey  is a deeply personal one. Arriving in Australia as a refugee with his family, he faced the challenge of rebuilding his life from scratch. Inspired by his mother’s resilience and a desire to give back, he founded People First Healthcare at 29, dedicated to supporting migrant communities and ensuring access to multilingual healthcare services for migrants.

A Business focused on community and care

While studying optometry, Dr. Alebrahimi recognised the gaps in Australia’s healthcare system for elderly and migrant communities. He saw how hard it was for many to understand the system and access care that suited their culture. He was driven to respond and started People First Healthcare

"People First Healthcare is more than just a company; it’s a movement committed to empowering communities and transforming lives."

Knowing that social isolation can have significant health impacts, he also launched the Beloved Group with the help of his mother. The social network gathers every fortnight, bringing people together to foster friendships and support networks. Their annual Easter Party has drawn up to 5,000 attendees, highlighting the strong sense of belonging and community

Our key to success has been hard work, a supportive family, and constantly networking to create new opportunities. I encourage others to do the same.

Care, community, and opportunity for all

Beyond his work in healthcare, Mohammed has been tackling unemployment in migrant communities by launching businesses and collaborating with organisations like AMES Australia. By providing vocational training, creating job pathways, and offering essential services, he’s making a real difference while championing culturally relevant care for all refugees and migrants.

People First Healthcare now runs with a multilingual team, offering support in up to 10 languages, and almost every staff member is bilingual. Their holistic approach ensures that essential healthcare and employment opportunities reach those who need them most.

Australia offers endless opportunities for growth, and we’ve always focused on them, not the barriers. Our hard work has paid off, especially within the Arabic-speaking community, and now we’re working to extend that success to other cultures.

Growing a business with purpose

People First Healthcare has grown significantly, now serving more than 3,000 clients alongside providing training and employment opportunities.

Dr Albrehamini plans to expand People First Healthcare into new regions, ensuring more communities have access to quality care and employment support. His vision is to create a national healthcare workforce from migrant training program pathways, further strengthening Australia’s inclusive healthcare system.

For Mohammed, success is not just about business growth—it’s about making a difference, one person at a time.
