Cheers to Aussie craftsmanship: Australian Made Week is back
As Australians, we have a knack for rallying around icons. Whether it's the Don Bradmans, Kylie Minogues, or the Steve Irwins of our land, it's part of our national spirit to support and celebrate what's homegrown and special.
So, it’s no surprise that 99% of Australians recognise the iconic green and gold logo, with 77% willing to pay more for homegrown products. Additionally, four out of five Aussies say they feel positive when buying Australian-made products and have a sense of pride knowing they are being socially responsible and are contributing to Australia’s economy.
Australian Made Week, which runs from Monday 20 May to Sunday 26 May, is a great opportunity to shine a spotlight on our local creators and growers. This special week celebrates the iconic green and gold kangaroo and the quality of Australian-made goods.
This year’s Australian Made Week ambassador, singer-songwriter Jessica Mauboy, is hitting the high notes with her message to champion all that Australians create.
“I couldn’t be prouder to be Australian and come from this beautiful country where we have such an abundance of clever makers and growers who work so hard to produce for us and the rest of the world.”
“Buying Australian is an important way we can support each other and ensure all Australians prosper. So, let’s make some noise for supporting Aussie businesses,” Mauboy said.
Buying Australian-made supports local jobs, helps our economy and is better for our carbon footprint. Now is a great time to hop on board the campaign by buying local products that display the logo this week and beyond, and also by harnessing the power of the green and gold kangaroo for your business.
Victorians are embracing Australian Made
People choose Australian Made or Australian Grown because it’s more than just a label – it's a recognition of quality and authenticity. Here in Victoria, we have a proud history of embracing the Australian Made spirit, delivering products and services that speak to who we are and what we value.
In Mordialloc, Superior Pet Goods has a strong commitment to being Australian Made. Over half their range boasts the logo, but they don’t stop there. The company has embedded an Aussie first motto across their business, from making their own soft filling with the sustainable use of Australian foams (made in Melbourne), to in-house product design and production and working with local suppliers for their photography, design, and printing needs.
“We believe by working with and supporting other Australian companies, we are enabling innovation and investment in bright ideas on home soil and that benefits us all,” – Superior Pet Goods.
Arrowsmith and Grant Refrigeration in Dandenong is another business committed to Australian manufacturing standards and manufacturing locally, which is rare in their industry. As a specialist refrigeration company providing advanced engineering, design, manufacture, and servicing, they are best known for their blood and plasma fridges and freezers.
“Our products are designed and made specifically for the uniquely variable Australian environments, including high ambient temperatures and tropical climates. We’re proud to be Australian-owned and be able to provide Australian-made products for our medical and research sectors.” – Arrowsmith and Grant Refrigeration.
Embracing the Australian Made logo for your business is more than just a symbol – it's a way to tap into that national pride and elevate your brand. It instantly communicates quality and trust, making the green and gold kangaroo a powerful asset for any business.

The Australian Made advantage
The Australian Made Campaign is an independent, not-for-profit organisation responsible for licensing the use of the Australian Made logo, providing a third-party accreditation system that certifies products that carry the logo as 'genuinely Australian'.
As a registered certification trademark, the logo can only be used on products that are registered with the Australian Made Campaign Ltd and meet the criteria set out in the Australian Consumer Law and the Australian Made Australian Grown Logo Code of Practice.
In 2023, Roy Morgan delved into the minds of business owners seeking their opinions and attitudes towards Australian Made products. Business owners clearly saw the Australian Made logo as a big thumbs up for quality and trust, wanting to back local products, boost the economy and create jobs right here at home.
An incredible 100% of the 780 Australian businesses surveyed instantly recognised the logo, with 77% of them displaying a deep trust for the green and gold. 57% were also more likely to consider a tender from a licensed Australian Made business.
For consumers, the logo provides a reassuring hug that their dollars are being well spent. It is a mark of the quality and high standards a product requires to gain certification:
- Fresh, healthy & tasty: grown in a clean, green environment.
- Safe: made and grown with strict regulations and high standards.
- High quality: components, ingredients and manufacturing standards are some of the highest in the world.
- Value: represents good value for money.
Using the logo at the point of sale, on packaging, promotional materials, social media, and other online platforms, allows businesses to influence purchasing decisions, create brand preference and increase sales locally and overseas.
Whether internationally or down at the local supermarket, the logo is more than just a symbol – it's a way to elevate your brand. It communicates quality and trust to purchasers, making the green and gold kangaroo a powerful asset for any business.
A global icon – exporting opportunities
The green and gold kangaroo is one of the most effective ways to leverage Australia's reputation as a leading supplier of products, produce and services. It’s used by over 4,000 businesses and has become a global icon. Over half of these businesses engage in international trade, exporting thousands of quality goods to global markets.
A recent Horizon Research survey spanning 6 countries where the logo has been introduced found that a staggering 97% of respondents had a positive first impression of the Australian Made logo at first glance. 72% became intrigued about the product once they saw the green and gold.
These international consumers saw the Australian Made logo as a sign that the product is high quality, reputable and made ethically. The Australian Made logo provides the clearest identification that this product is from our sunburnt country, along with all the benefits of being Australian Made.
Read the Horizon Consumer Science report.
Applying to use the logo when you begin exporting means you’ll access the power of a globally recognised symbol on your packaging, increased consumer confidence overseas and trade opportunities. Additionally, the logo offers legal protection against unauthorised use by competitors, providing a competitive advantage in global markets.

Is there a cost?
The campaign to promote and administer the logo is not for profit and is funded by the licence fees businesses pay to use the logo. The annual licence fee is based on the sales of licensed products for the previous 12 months.
