Who is eligible to apply for the program?

To be eligible to apply for the Digital Jobs program, a business must:

  • be a legal entity 1 with an operating presence in Victoria
  • be a business operating in the manufacturing and/or construction sectors
  • have a Australian Business Number (ABN) and held that ABN on and from  
    1 June 2025
  • have been registered for Goods and Services Tax (GST) on and from 1 June 2025
  • have met all industrial relations obligations as an employer in accordance with the National Employment Standards.

To be eligible for free six-week training courses, the business must be a small to medium sized, business with less than 200 employees.

The business must also agree:

  • that they will make their nominated employee/s available for training in the selected training round;
  • that they will provide an opportunity for the employee to apply the training ‘on the job’; and
  • that both the business and their employee/s will participate in any future program evaluation activities.

What courses can I enrol my employees in?

The program offers specialist digital skills courses, leadership workshops and training for trades on the tools.

  • Specialist digital skills courses will provide in-depth knowledge to enable digital transformations at an operational level.
  • Leadership workshops will inform strategic decision making on technology adoption.
  • Training for trades on the tools will upskill workers with specific skills.

Training will be available in the following areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) / machine learning
  • Building Information Modelling (BIM)
  • Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM)
  • Cybersecurity
  • Data analytics
  • Digital marketing
  • Digital tools for small business management
  • Emerging technologies
  • Project management (agile)

The specialist digital skills training will typically be delivered part time over 6 weeks. The leadership workshops and training for trades on the tools will typically be delivered over one day and in-person.

Who is delivering the training?

The following Victorian universities, TAFEs and private training providers will deliver the courses:

  • Holmesglen TAFE
  • Melbourne Business School
  • Melbourne Polytechnic
  • RMIT University
  • Swinburne University of Technology

How many employees can I put through training?

Businesses may access up to 5 vouchers per round subject to availability.

The program issues ‘vouchers’ that allow eligible businesses to enrol their leaders and workers in specialist digital skills courses, leadership workshops and training for trades on the tools at no cost to the business.

Can employees participate in more than one round of the Digital Jobs program?

Businesses can access up to 5 vouchers per round, subject to availability. An employee can participate in more than one round; however, can access only one specialist digital skills course, leadership workshop, or training for trades on the tools per round.

How long is a Digital Jobs Program voucher valid for?

Vouchers are valid for up to 6 months and must be used to enrol in the next available round of training. In exceptional circumstances, businesses can apply to defer their voucher to the next available round.

Do my employees need to be full-time to apply?

Employees participating in training must:

  • be employed directly by the applicant business and undertake this employment in Victoria
  • be a full-time or part-time employee (not a casual employee)
  • have the capability and skills (e.g. computer skills) to complete the proposed training
  • meet any of the pre-existing requirements of the nominated training course.

Can we change the course selected or participant enrolled?

Voucher recipients may be able to change workshop, courses or participants prior to enrolling with their training provider, with approval from the department and subject to availability.

A Change of Preference Form will be made available to voucher recipients to request a change.

Do I have to pay for the training?

Training is free for eligible businesses. Successful applicants must commit to ensuring their nominated employee is provided an opportunity to earn and learn.

This includes ensuring the employee is assigned relevant work activities and tasks to apply and embed their learning.

If my application is approved, when will training occur?

Training will be delivered across four rounds commencing August 2025, February and August 2026 and February 2027.

Course details will be updated and published online ahead of each round. Courses availability each round will be subject to change based on industry demand.

My business applied for the Digital Jobs for Manufacturing program and was successsful, can we also apply for this program?

Yes, businesses may access up to 5 vouchers per round subject to availability under this new version the Digital Jobs.

An employee can participate in more than one round; however, only one specialist digital skills course, leadership workshop, or training for trades on the tools is permitted per person per round.

How does my business apply?

Business must apply through the Digital Jobs Program

Only final applications that are lodged with the department will be considered and assessed. Applications in draft stage that have not been submitted will not be considered.
