Program overview

The Digital Jobs program is a Victorian Government Economic Growth Statement initiative that provides Victorian businesses in the construction and advanced manufacturing sectors with access to free training to upskill leaders and workers with digital skills that are critical for innovation and technology adoption.

The program is open to businesses operating in the construction or advanced manufacturing sectors that are looking to apply digital technology to their operations.  

The program will support businesses to:

  • utilise digital technologies to keep up to date with emerging changes in their industries; and
  • make informed and strategic decisions on technology adoption.

About the program

The program will support Victorian construction and advanced manufacturing businesses to grow and maintain their competitive advantage by providing free training opportunities in critical digital skills for leaders and workers in these sectors.  

The program offers specialist digital skills courses, leadership workshops and training for trades on the tools.

  • Specialist digital skills courses will provide in-depth knowledge to enable digital transformation at an operational level
  • Leadership workshops will inform strategic decision making on technology adoption
  • Training for trades on the tools will upskill workers with specific skills.

Training will be available in the following areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) / machine learning
  • Building Information Modelling (BIM)
  • Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM)
  • Cybersecurity
  • Data analytics
  • Digital marketing
  • Digital tools for small business management
  • Emerging technologies
  • Project management (agile)

The specialist digital skills training will typically be delivered part time over 6 weeks. The leadership workshops and training for trades on the tools will typically be delivered over one day and in-person.

For detailed course information, please refer to the course handbook. Specialist digital skills training, leadership workshops and training for trades on the tools may be updated throughout the life of the program based on industry demand.

Training rounds will commence from August 2025, February and August 2026 and February 2027.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply, the business must:

  • be a legal entity with an operating presence in Victoria
  • be a business operating in the manufacturing and/or construction sectors
  • have a Australian Business Number (ABN) and held that ABN on and from  
    1 June 2025
  • have been registered for Goods and Services Tax (GST) on and from 1 June 2025
  • have met all industrial relations obligations as an employer in accordance with the National Employment Standards.

To be eligible for free six-week training courses, the business must be a small to medium sized, employing business with less than 200 employees.

The business must also agree:

  • that they will make their nominated employee/s available for training in the selected training round;
  • that they will provide an opportunity for the employee to apply the training ‘on the job’; and
  • that both the business and their employee/s will participate in any future program evaluation activities.

What you get

Eligible Victorian construction and advanced manufacturing businesses will get access to free training opportunities for leaders and workers.

The program issues ‘vouchers’ that allow eligible businesses to enrol their leaders and workers in specialist digital skills courses, leadership workshops and training for trades on the tools at no cost to the business.

Businesses may access up to 5 vouchers per round, subject to availability.
