What is the Implementing Transition Stream?

The Implementing Transition Stream provides grants of up to $120,000 (excluding GST) to implement activities outlined in the applicant’s Business Transition Plan, prepared under the Highly Impacted Manufacturers Stream.

When is the closing date for applications?

The Program is open for applications until 30 November, 2024 at 11:59 pm (AEST) or earlier at the Department’s discretion.

What types of transition activities will be considered eligible for funding?

Proposed transition activities must be in line with the applicant’s Business Transition Plan. This may include but is not limited to goods and services required to:

  • source hardwood from alternative sources to ensure business continuity and long-term viability
  • diversify material inputs to substitute away from hardwood
  • diversify to produce new products and services that do not require the use of hardwood as an input
  • develop existing business operations which are not reliant on native Victorian hardwood
  • cease business operations or facilitate the sale of the business.

What transition activities are ineligible for funding?

Ineligible expenditure includes any activity not captured in the Business Transition Plan, and goods and services typically used in ‘business as usual’ functions.

How do I apply?

Carefully read the program guidelines and submit your application online via the link sent to you in the invitation email.

What information will I need to submit to support my application?

Applicants will be required to upload a copy of their Business Transition Plan.

Can I submit a late application?

No. Late applications will not be accepted.

How many applications can I submit?

Applicants are only eligible to submit one application for consideration for funding under this stream.

What financial commitment is required from businesses?

No business co-contribution is required. Each business may receive funding of up to $120,000 (excluding GST). However, the State of Victoria will not be responsible or liable for any costs exceeding this amount in connection with the funded activities.

Can I recoup funds I have already spent on an activity?

Applicants can claim for expenses incurred on activities that commenced on or after 23 May 2023,  providing the activity is eligible and listed in the Business Transition Plan.

Does the project need to be located in Victoria?

Yes. The project must be located in Victoria.

What happens if my project changes in scope or budget after I submit my application?

If you change the budget or scope of activities after you submit an application or you receive a letter of offer you must contact the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJSIR) to discuss the changes.

How are grant applications assessed?

Eligible applicants will be assessed against the Program Guidelines and their Business Transition Plan.

Do successful applicants have to sign a grant agreement to receive funding?

Yes. Successful applicants will be sent a Letter of Offer inviting them to enter into a legally binding grant agreement with the department.

If successful, will my project details be made public?

DJSIR may include the name of the recipients and the amount of grants in its annual report. DJSIR also reserves the right to publicise the benefits accruing as the result of the provision of this program and may seek your agreement to issue a media release regarding your project.
