Victoria is giving small businesses a bigger voice with new appointments to the Small Business Ministerial Council.

A fresh chapter begins for Victoria’s small businesses, guided by a new Chair and council members.

The Small Business Ministerial Council will help ensure that small businesses are heard, consulted and engaged. The council will advise on key issues affecting the sector, including government policies, programs and services designed for Victorian small businesses.

Dr Suji Sanjeevan, co-founder and CEO of boutique candle business Light & Glo Designs and co-founder and director of scent marketing company BrandScent, has been appointed as the new council Chair.

The council brings together a diverse group of business experts. The other members are:

  • Dr Michael Akindeju, PhD – Principal Process Engineering Consultant and Director of MKPro Group
  • Susan Benedyka – Managing Director of The Regional Development Company
  • Niti Bhargava, MIPA, AFA – Founder and Principal Broker at GB Financiials
  • John Burgess – First Nations business owner, CEO and Director of Strategy for Little Rocket
  • Orianna Edmonds – Founder and CEO of Naturally Goat
  • Claire Elkin – Founder of Engineering Equilibrium.

The Small Business Ministerial Council will work with the Multicultural Business Ministerial Council, which champions the needs of culturally diverse business owners, to ensure all Victorian small businesses have a voice.
