Program overview

The Multicultural Business Precinct Revitalisation Program offers grants to Victorian local councils to support improvements to multicultural business precincts within their municipality.

Grants between $50,000 and $250,000 are available per multicultural business precinct.

The program aims to:

  • boost economic activity in multicultural business areas
  • support councils, business groups and traders to work together to deliver precinct improvements
  • celebrate the cultural diversity of local traders
  • improve the quality of spaces for businesses and the community in multicultural precincts.

The grant is part of the Victorian Government’s Supporting our Multicultural Traders and Precincts commitment, aligning with broader economic growth goals.

Applications close at 3 pm on Thursday 9 October 2025.

Grant amount

Victorian local councils can access grants between $50,000 and $250,000 per multicultural business precinct.

All Victorian local councils with projects to upgrade multicultural business precincts that are supported by business associations or traders can apply for this grant.

Councils may submit up to 3 applications, each for a different business precinct within their local government area. Only one application is allowed per precinct.

Funded projects must be completed by 30 March 2027.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for a grant, local councils must:

  • be located in Victoria
  • provide a cash co-contribution of at least 20% of the requested grant amount
  • ensure the project takes place within a multicultural business precinct
  • ensure the project has the support of the business association or local traders.

Project types eligible for funding

Eligible activities include upgrades to the following in a multicultural business precinct:

  • Visitor spaces such as outdoor furniture, dining, stages, recreational pop-up spaces.
  • Public infrastructure such as greening and beautification works, lighting, walking and cycling paths, pergolas and shade over public areas.
  • Wayfinding signage to help visitors navigate the precinct while reflecting its unique character.
  • Public art installations such as murals and sculptures.
  • Shopfront exteriors to improve the visual appeal, character and create visual cohesiveness across the precinct.

Pilot projects that test ideas for larger investments are also eligible.

How to apply

Applications are open until 3 pm on Thursday  9th of October.

To submit your application:

  1. read the program guidelines  and FAQs on this page
  2. review the Good Practice Guide: Collaboration in Multicultural Business Precinct Planning & Activation to help inform your application
  3. complete all questions in the application form
  4. add required attachments to your application, including a project plan and evidence of support from the relevant business association or local businesses
  5. submit your application via the Business Victoria grants portal using the ‘Apply now’ button below
  6. check your email for a confirmation message. If you don’t receive one, please check your junk or spam folder.

Only submitted applications will be assessed. Drafts not submitted before the program closes will not be considered.

You will need to declare that all information provided is true and correct when completing the application form.
